MSC IN ARTS AND CULTURAL MANAGEMENT
The business trip to Berlin was, in every sense, complete. In a duration of just four days, we were able to experience the cultural scenario of the city, fully. We took a walk down the lane of costume making, experiencing the beauty and detail of each piece, at Kunstgewerbemuseum. Not everyday does one get to visit a contemporary art exhibition in a former Nazi bunker. But the Boros collection presented us with that opportunity as well.
The interactions we had with the management at Sophiensaele and Schaubühne were extremely insightful, giving us a real and relevant outlook to organising art events. We were lucky to watch the opera at Komische (Satyagraha) and the play at Berliner ensemble (Caligula), both of which were spectacular productions.
The most interesting piece that we watched though, was the 'General Assembly' at Schaubühne, which merged the lines between reality and theatre beautifully, while exploring a theme that is extremely relevant to the world we live in, today.
The dinner at Clärchen's ballhaus, followed by an evening of swing dancing, was exactly what we needed to unwind from this art-intensive trip, and had the students tapping their feet to Charleston.
Berlin offers a perfect blend of the classic and the contemporary, with its contrasting architecture and free-spirited attitude; and is an excellent idea for all art-lovers.
