Our Partnership with Nicolas

.

Partner of Paris School of Business for over 10 years, Nicolas is a French company with more than 200 years of experience, specializing in bottled wine sales. A pioneer in its market, Nicolas recruits students from Paris School of Business for part-time jobs each year.

We spoke with Nicolas' recruitment teams, who told us about the partnership and what they look for when hiring students.

The partnership

Can you introduce your company and industry?

We are the leading wine distributor in city centers across France and have been a major player in this industry for over 200 years! Nicolas is also the brand that elected the favorite of the French population. At Maison Nicolas, we are all about values: Quality, Passion, Sharing, Enjoyment, and Commitment.

In short, we are the French people's favorite wine merchant thanks to our presence throughout France with more than 500 stores, as well as internationally.

What motivated you to establish this partnership with Paris School of Business?

The partnership with Paris School of Business allows us to easily hire students for our summer replacements in stores and also helps to boost Nicolas’ Employer Brand.

What roles and responsibilities do the recruited students have?

We hire students for two types of positions depending on the demand and their aspirations:

  • In stores: they are hired as managing agents
  • In support services: they are often recruited for marketing and digital marketing roles

Professional experience for better employability

In your opinion, why is professional experience a stepping stone for students?

It allows them to gain valuable experience more quickly and also increases their chances of either being hired by the company or finding a job more easily after graduation.

Do you tend to prioritize hiring recent graduates who have completed work-study programs?

In our support services, which are office-based roles, we indeed prioritize hiring students who have completed work-study programs during their studies.

What advice would you give to our students to succeed in their professional experiences and entry into the workforce?

Students should behave like employees, which means they need to adopt the attitude of a staff member within the company. Even though they are in training, they must be motivated and invested in their tasks because, quite often, the ultimate goal is to be hired by the company at the end of their work-study program.
